• Cell Biology: Explore the fundamental building blocks of life, including cell structure, organelles, cell division, and the processes of mitosis and meiosis.

 

• Genetics and Heredity: Delve into the principles of inheritance, DNA structure, replication, transcription, translation, and Mendelian genetics, including the study of Punnett squares and genetic disorders.

 

• Evolution and Natural Selection: Investigate the theory of evolution, the mechanisms of natural selection, adaptation, speciation, and evidence supporting the process of biological change over time.

 

• Ecology and Ecosystems: Study the interactions between organisms and their environment, including topics like population dynamics, community structure, biomes, and ecological relationships.

 

• Anatomy and Physiology: Explore the structure and function of major body systems, including the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, nervous, and endocrine systems, along with homeostasis mechanisms.

 

• Microbiology and Disease: Learn about microorganisms, their roles in ecosystems, the immune system, infectious diseases, antibiotics, and vaccination.

 

• Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering: Explore applications of biotechnology, including genetic modification, gene therapy, cloning, and the ethical implications of manipulating genetic material.

 

• Plant Biology: Study plant anatomy, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, plant growth, reproduction, and the role of plants in ecosystems and human life.

A detailed list of recommended tools and materials will be provided upon enrollment, and our instructor will offer guidance on where to purchase these items. Majority of items will be household products that are easily accessible. If you do not want to purchase the other items, labs will be filmed and available for you to view. 

Classes will begin August 27, 2024 - November 21, 2024 (1st Semester) January 7, 2025 - April 24, 2025 (Second Semester) 

 

CLASS SIZES ARE LIMITED TO 10 STUDENTS PER LIVE CLASS. This allows the instructor to give tailored information to each student and give the class the size to be able to discuss and interact efficiently. 

 

Class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12 pm MST

Get what you put into these classes. If you want a simple open and go curriculum then you have it. If you want tests, activities, experiments, reading, math application, writing opportunities, and additional resources then you have access to those as well! Choose what you want to do and what works best for your family.

Led by Kassidy Jones, Creator and Founder of Fields of Learning with years of experience in the science and agricultural industry along with a strong educational background. She is currently pursuing her PhD researching how children REALLY learn best and how to implement it into our innovative platform! 

What is the difference between Live, self-paced and hybrid classes?

 

• The live classes give your student the opportunity to interact with other students their age from around the world! We will have about 60 classes together where we will learn, collaborate, and explore science topics. Self-paced classes are completely asynchronous. You will recieve the workbook, activities, and labs for you to do as your schedule permits. The hybrid option gives you the opportunity to work through it as you please, but also you can post lab results, communicate with other students from around the globe in our discussion forums, and get all of your grading/questions answered in real time by your instructor! You can also join the live classes once a semester for any class you would like! (Class schedules will be posted so you can decide which one you would like to attend.)

 

Is everything in the classes required for me to do?

 

• NO! Research shows that excellence is created through the inward passion of learning a topic. So classes are designed for students to be able to have a great foundation of exploration for each unit. They can watch additional videos, read books from our Ultimate Book List that pertain to that particular subject, or have kid friendly websites that they can explore for more information (with your supervision and permission of course). Tests, writing opportunities, additional labs and activities as well as related topics are also included and they can be used as much or as little as you and your student would like.
